Katrien Depuydt completed degrees in Germanic philology (Dutch and English) at the KU Leuven, specializing in Middle Dutch language and literature, and medieval studies at Utrecht University.

She started working at the Institute for Dutch Lexicology in 1985, as editor of the Dictionary of the Dutch Language (WNT). She worked as editor of the Dictionary of Early Middle Dutch (VMNW) from 1988 until its completion in 1998. Afterwards, her work was focused on the Taalbank, first as editor and from 2007-2016 as the head of the project. Currently, she is a senior researcher/linguist at the Dutch Language Institute (INT), where she is responsible for the institute’s data infrastructure and historic Dutch.

She manages the construction and provision of the INT’s contemporary and historical corpora and lexica, and has led work packages in these areas in several European and national projects (IMPACT, Succeed, TranScriptorium, Nederlab, CLARIAH). Additionally, she is responsible for the online portal for historical dictionaries and the recent semantic lexicon DiaMaNT. She was a contributor to the Database of the Southern Dutch Dialects (DSDD) and is one of the supervisors of the GCND (Spoken Corpus of Southern-Dutch Dialects). She is also involved in the development of standards for lexical data (TEI Lex-0 and OntoLex).
