Jesse de Does completed degrees in mathematics and Slavonic studies in Amsterdam. From 1986 until 1990, he worked as a scientific assistant at Leiden University’s department of Slavic languages and literature. In 1995, he obtained his doctorate in applied mathematics under the supervision of Hans Schumacher at Tilburg University. Afterwards, he was employed by Baltzer Science Publishers in Amsterdam and AND Publishers in Rotterdam.
Jesse has been working as a computational linguist at the Dutch Language Institute (INT) since 2001. Initially, he primarily worked on the Taalbank. Since 2008, he has been closely involved in various international projects, such as IMPACT, SUCCEED, and tranScriptorium. He is also currently active at the institute as project manager for CLARIAH, and as a member of the senior team.
