Laura van Eerten studied Dutch language and literature as well as linguistics at the University of Groningen. Her dissertation on the subject of phonology discussed the parallels between language and music.
She has been the Dutch Language Institute’s (INT) communications consultant since 2013. She is a podcast creator, the senior editor of the external newsletter and the INT’s website, she manages the social media channels and is the first point of contact for press-related matters. In addition to this, she organizes various public outreach events and was part of the organizing team of the ‘Weg met dat woord!’ contest for five years. Laura also regularly writes articles for Onze Taal, co-authored the book Kids, koffietjes, & comfortzone. Waarom taal soms irritant is (2018) with Vivien Waszink, and is the initiator and co-author of the books Waar komt pindakaas vandaan? (2013), Waar komt hagelslag vandaan? (2015) and Waar komt suikerspin vandaan? (2017).
In 2020, Laura launched the podcast series Waar komt pindakaas vandaan? (at the time in collaboration with Caspar Stalenhoef), inspired by the book of the same name. In 2021, she started the self-produced podcast Over taal gesproken, in collaboration with Raymond Noë (Onze Taal).
